The Bothas
Bowood began as a family’s decision to slow down.
Between us, we’ve spent our lives in hospitality, coffee, creative work, and business — shaped by both opportunity and necessity. But it wasn’t until becoming parents that everything truly shifted. We began to question how we were spending our time, what we were feeding our children, and what kind of life we were modeling for them.
We realized that convenience had quietly replaced intention.
Mass-produced, fast food had become the default — not because people didn’t care, but because life had become too busy to look closer. Ingredients went unnoticed. Time around the table became rushed. And the cost of that convenience began to show.
Bowood grew from a desire to reclaim an older way of living and eating — one that values patience, care, and knowing where things come from. From naturally fermented sourdough to simple, thoughtfully sourced staples, everything we offer is made with the belief that food should nourish deeply and bring people together.
For us, this is personal. We want long, healthy lives with our children. We want them to grow up understanding their food, valuing slow moments, and choosing intention over speed. We see it already — their bodies respond differently to food made with care, and they instinctively value what is real.
Bowood is more than a product line. It’s a lifestyle we are actively building. One day, it will be a place where people can visit, eat, learn, stay, and experience this way of life firsthand — a family-run space where our children are involved, where food is grown and made with purpose, and where community gathers naturally.
We don’t own the land yet — and we don’t pretend to. But we are building toward it honestly, one loaf, one meal, one moment at a time.
For now, we take the time so you don’t have to — and we invite you to slow down with us.
